Using the NLCSP Low-Dose CT Scan Request Template in Bp Premier

The National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP) begun in July 2025, aiming to assist both practitioners and patients with the early detection of lung cancer in high-risk, asymptomatic individuals.

Due to additional criteria required for these imaging requests, it is not currently possible to generate the NLCSP Low-Dose CT scan requests using the regular imaging eOrdering workflow in Bp Premier. Practices must use a dedicated Word Processor template to submit NLCSP Low-Dose CT Scan requests. The NLCSP request form has been included as a Word Processor template in Bp Premier.

  • This template is designed to be lab-agnostic. A specific imaging provider does not need to be selected.

  • The patient has the option to choose where the scan is performed, based on their preferences and location.

Access the NLCSP Low-Dose CT Scan request template

  1. From the main Best Practice screen, click the Best Practice Premier Word Processor Icon icon or select Utilities > Word processor from the menu.
  2. TIP   You can also press F4, or, from a patient record, press F4 or select File > New Letter.

  3. Select Template > Use Template from the word processor main menu. The Word Processor templates screen will appear.
  4. Select the NLCSP Low Dose CT Scan request template.
  5. Click Open to use the template and enter the required information.

Practitioners can complete the template with the relevant clinical and patient information required for the NLCSP screening. Once completed, the form should be printed and a copy provided to the patient. The patient can then take the request to a diagnostic imaging provider of their choice.
